It’s true. I hate getting my picture taken. I am more than happy to be the person with the twelve iPhones in-hand to take the group shot, but as soon as you want me in front of the camera, I’m awkward and have a weird nervous laugh, and I’ll probably start to sweat a little. I don’t know what it is, but the thought of getting my picture taken always makes me super anxious!
When I was putting together the new website, I knew that I needed new headshots. The one I had before was from junior year of high school, and I like to think I’ve come a long way since then. Once I decided I needed to get over myself and get my pictures taken, I knew exactly who I wanted to take them. I went to the same church as Andrea for a few years growing up, and only reconnected with her recently, but boy am I glad I did.
I met her at Swannanoa mansion, on a gorgeous day at a gorgeous house in Afton, VA. This place was stunning! It reminded me of the home in the movie Atonement which if you know me, you know I was on cloud 9.
Andrea is a true gem. When I told her how nervous I was, she told me not to worry, and I really shouldn’t have. Even though I know for a fact that I’m incredibly awkward, she made me feel so at ease, and I am so happy with how these images came out (thank you, Andrea!).
One of the biggest things I took away from having my photos taken, is understanding how my clients feel when they’re in front of the camera! It truly put things into perspective. So to all of my past and future clients, if you’re nervous about getting photos done, it’s okay! Let me know that you feel nervous and we can high-five over our awkwardness! 🙂 But really, I’ll do my best to make you feel comfortable in front of my camera, because now, I know exactly how you feel.
