One of my frequent question that I’m often asked by a prospective bride is what my favorite moment of a wedding day is.
No two weddings are the same with each couple I photograph being different and unique, so honestly, every part of a wedding day carries meaning for me!
I know that’s a bit of a cop out, but I do have 3 standout moments that hit me in my feelings every single time.
- The Bride putting on her dress: The moment the bride puts on her dress is without a doubt one of my absolute favorites. There’s always this look of, “Oh my gosh, I’m getting married”, and it hits her, the bridesmaids, mom, dad. It’s such an emotional moment for everyone and the reactions are always so priceless.
- Ceremony recessional: This is another moment that elicits an emotional reaction from a bride and groom. It’s literally seconds after things have been made official, and the joy is so palpable. As a photographer, I feel so lucky to be one of the first people to get to celebrate this moment with the bride and groom.
- Family portraits: This may come as a surprise as you often hear that family portraits on a wedding day can be stressful, and it’s true they can – you’re gathering together a large group, arranging various groups, making sure Uncle Bob hasn’t gone off to the bar, and it can often feel overwhelming for everyone. But as someone who cherishes family more than anything, I love this window of time in a wedding day. Weddings are one of the few times in life that you have all of these people together in the same place, so even though it can be difficult, I always encourage everyone to savor the moment!
